This project covered acoustic ceiling upgrade for a large-scale shopping mall. The original ceiling had poor sound absorption performance, and the combination of hard floor tiles, glass storefronts and high ceilings created a highly reverberant environment. During peak hours, crowd noise, background music and public announcements overlapped, resulting in a chaotic acoustic experience and reduced customer comfort.
Fiberglass acoustic ceiling panels were selected as the full-coverage ceiling solution for their comprehensive performance. Made from inorganic high-density glass fiber, the panels have inherent Class A fire resistance with zero flame spread and low smoke emission, fully meeting the strict fire safety requirements of large public buildings. With an NRC rating of 0.90–0.95, they efficiently absorb broadband noise across the entire public area.
The panels are compatible with standard suspended ceiling grid systems, allowing seamless integration with lighting, HVAC vents and fire sprinklers. Their excellent dimensional stability and moisture resistance ensure long-term performance without sagging or deformation. After the upgrade, overall ambient noise in the mall decreased significantly, creating a more comfortable shopping environment. The project validates fiberglass ceilings as the optimal acoustic solution for large public commercial spaces.
