Recycled Polyester Acoustic Panels for Small Animal Veterinary Hospital

veterinary clinic acoustics

Project Challenge

This full-service small animal veterinary hospital provides routine care, surgical treatment and inpatient boarding services. Hard tile floors, epoxy walls and stainless-steel clinical surfaces create strong sound reflection. Barking, equipment beeps and instrument noise echo continuously throughout the space, increasing animal stress and anxiety, especially for nervous pets during examinations. The clinic required an eco-friendly, cleanable acoustic solution that meets healthcare-grade hygiene standards while creating a calmer, low-stress environment for both animals and staff.

Solution

100% post-consumer recycled polyester fiber acoustic panels were installed on corridor walls, exam room perimeters and waiting area feature walls. Delivering a stable NRC rating of 0.85–0.95, the porous PET material effectively absorbs animal vocalizations and equipment noise, reducing overall reverberation and lowering auditory stress for pets. The panels are formaldehyde-free with ultra-low VOC emissions, and the dense non-woven surface supports routine disinfection cleaning. Soft calming neutral tones were selected to match the clinic’s modern healthcare aesthetic, with modular installation completed outside of peak appointment hours.

Results

Post-installation measurements showed a significant reduction in ambient noise and reverberation across treatment and waiting areas. Veterinarians and technicians report calmer patient behavior during examinations, and staff communication clarity has improved. The acoustic upgrade supports the hospital’s focus on fear-free veterinary care, elevating both patient welfare and the clinic’s premium professional reputation.
