Project Context
This high-end private home cinema was designed for immersive film viewing and small-scale private listening sessions. The space originally had smooth drywall surfaces and solid hardwood flooring, causing prominent sound reflection and uneven low-frequency response. Without professional acoustic treatment, movie soundtracks felt hollow, dialogue lacked clarity, and bass resonance was boomy and uncontrolled. The homeowner required a fully custom acoustic scheme that would deliver theatre-level acoustic performance while creating a premium, immersive visual atmosphere — no generic industrial acoustic foam products were acceptable.
Custom Acoustic Solution
The project combines two core products: polyester fiber luminous starry acoustic ceiling and flame-retardant fabric wrapped acoustic panels.
The full-ceiling starry PET ceiling is made of 100% recycled polyester fiber with embedded custom-arranged optical fiber star points, supporting dimming and multiple scene modes. The base material achieves an NRC rating of 0.92, absorbing mid-high frequency reflected sound from the ceiling while delivering a realistic immersive starry sky visual effect.
Side and rear walls are fully fitted with fabric-wrapped acoustic panels with high-density fiberglass core, NRC 0.85–0.95, to eliminate flutter echo and optimize first reflection points. Deep velvet fabric in midnight blue was custom-selected to match the ceiling starry theme.
All materials meet ASTM E84 Class A fire safety standards with zero-formaldehyde, ultra-low VOC emissions. The entire 85 ㎡ installation was completed in 12 days with concealed wiring and hidden mounting hardware.
Project Outcome
Post-installation acoustic testing confirmed reverberation time falls within the optimal range for private cinema spaces. Dialogue clarity improved significantly, low-frequency bass response is tight and well-controlled, and the overall sound field is evenly layered. The luminous starry ceiling creates a fully immersive viewing atmosphere, with all acoustic treatments visually integrated into the interior design. The project passed residential indoor air quality and fire safety acceptance.
