Project Overview
This acoustic treatment project covers the stamping workshop and assembly workshop of a large auto parts manufacturing plant in Michigan, USA, with a total construction area of 7,200 ㎡. Automated stamping equipment, conveyor systems and high-power ventilation units generate continuous broadband noise. Long-term noise exposure of frontline workers exceeds OSHA occupational health limits, and on-site verbal communication is seriously affected. The client required an industrial-grade acoustic solution that could be installed around existing production lines without full plant shutdown.
Solution Configuration
- High-noise equipment perimeter: Green modular industrial sound barriers are installed along stamping lines and around key equipment. The barriers adopt an enclosure-style structure design, arranged in continuous vertical sections to form a stable noise shielding belt between equipment and worker stations. The modular design supports disassembly and repositioning with production line adjustments.
- Full workshop ceiling: High-density inorganic fiberglass acoustic ceiling tiles are fully laid in the workshop area. The panel surface is flat and smooth, with no texture, no fleece, no fibrous feel, and a hard finish. It efficiently absorbs reflected noise from equipment and airflow, controls overall ambient reverberation, and maintains stable performance in dusty and large temperature difference industrial environments.
All materials meet ASTM E84 Class A fire safety standards. The project was constructed in phases during planned maintenance windows, with a total construction period of 52 days, zero impact on normal production and delivery.
Project Results
Acceptance testing confirms that the ambient noise at worker stations drops by 41%, falling within the allowable range of OSHA occupational health standards. On-site verbal communication clarity is improved by 43%, and worker end-of-shift fatigue is significantly reduced. The green enclosure-style sound barriers and smooth fiberglass ceiling system have passed occupational health and fire safety assessments.
