Polyester Fiber Acoustic Panels + Smooth Fiberglass Ceiling | Podcast & Voice Recording Studio, Toronto, Canada

polyester fiber acoustic panel

Project Overview

This acoustic treatment project is for an independent podcast and voice-over recording studio in downtown Toronto, Canada. The small enclosed space originally had obvious flutter echo and uneven frequency response. Recorded voice had boxy colouration and required heavy post-production correction. The owner specified eco-friendly, low-VOC acoustic materials, easy cutting and installation, suitable for voice recording requirements.

Solution Configuration

  • Front, side and rear recording walls use polyester fiber acoustic panels. The lightweight, homogeneous panel material absorbs mid-high frequency reflection and eliminates flutter echo without over-damping the natural timbre of human voice.
  • Studio ceiling uses flat, smooth fiberglass acoustic ceiling tiles, non-textured and non-fibrous surface, controlling ceiling reflection and balancing the overall sound field. All products satisfy ASTM E84 Class A fire and CDPH low VOC emission standards.

Project Results

Acoustic measurement shows flutter echo is fully eliminated. The frequency response of the recording space becomes flat. Raw voice recordings require much less EQ correction in post-production. The owner reports cleaner, warmer vocal capture, and the studio now supports podcast recording, audiobook narration and commercial voice-over work.
