Project Challenge
A repurposed industrial warehouse converted into an open-plan co-working space suffered from extreme acoustic issues. The original high concrete ceilings, hard floors and exposed structural elements created long reverberation times. Keyboard clicks, phone calls and team discussions traveled freely across the floor, reducing focus and productivity for members. The client required acoustic treatment that preserved the raw, industrial warehouse aesthetic rather than covering it with generic flat panels.

Solution
Cement-bonded wood wool acoustic panels were installed across the entire ceiling grid. The natural spruce-fiber cement texture retains the rugged, authentic industrial character of the warehouse with no additional paint or finish needed. With an NRC of 0.80–0.90, the open fiber structure absorbs scattered office noise and balances sound across the large open floor. The panels also carry Class A fire resistance and excellent humidity stability, meeting commercial building code requirements for converted industrial spaces.

Results
Reverberation time across the co-working floor dropped into the optimal range for open offices. Cross-desk noise interference was greatly reduced, and members reported improved focus and fewer auditory distractions. The raw wood-wool ceiling became a signature design feature of the space, supporting the brand’s industrial-modern identity while delivering professional acoustic performance.
