Project Challenge
This airport premium lounge suffered from high background noise caused by passenger conversations, PA announcements, foot traffic and nearby gate activity. The original standard ceiling offered minimal sound absorption, creating a restless, noisy environment that fell short of premium travel expectations. As a high-standard public transportation space, the lounge also required the strictest levels of fire safety, smoke control and long-term dimensional stability from ceiling materials.

Solution
The entire lounge ceiling was replaced with high-density inorganic fiberglass acoustic ceiling tiles. The material delivers inherent Class A fire resistance with zero flame spread and low smoke emission, fully complying with international aviation building codes. With an NRC of 0.90–0.95, the interconnected porous structure absorbs mixed passenger and mechanical noise effectively. The tiles also offer exceptional sag resistance and moisture stability, maintaining consistent performance in the high-airflow airport environment.

Results
Peak-hour ambient noise in the lounge dropped noticeably. Public address announcements come through clearly without echo distortion, and passengers enjoy a calmer, more relaxed pre-flight experience. The clean, premium ceiling finish aligns with the lounge’s high-end brand positioning. The durable, low-maintenance system also reduces long-term facility management costs for the airport operator.
