Project Overview
This project delivers custom acoustic design for an 85 ㎡ private home theater in a luxury residential property in New York, USA, supporting movie viewing, music appreciation and small private gatherings. The original enclosed space with hard finish surfaces causes unbalanced frequency response, boomy low frequency and uneven sound field coverage. The owner required a high-end customized acoustic solution that delivers professional cinema-level acoustic performance, uses environmentally friendly materials, and matches the luxury interior decoration style.
Solution Configuration
- Main wall surfaces: 100% recycled polyester fiber acoustic panels with fabric wrapped finish are applied as the base acoustic layer, E0 grade formaldehyde-free with an NRC rating of 0.85–0.95. Custom color and fabric selection matches the luxury interior palette, efficiently absorbing mid-high frequency sound and eliminating flutter echo.
- Low frequency tuning zone: Grooved resonant structure is designed for the lower wall area to precisely tune mid-low frequency standing waves and enhance low frequency texture and impact.
All materials meet ASTM E84 Class A fire safety standards and use low-VOC adhesives suitable for enclosed residential spaces. The fully customized construction was completed in 15 days.
Project Results
Final acoustic testing shows reverberation time meets professional private cinema standards, with balanced full-band frequency response and even sound field coverage across all seating positions. The owner reports significantly improved movie and music experience, and the acoustic system has become a standard configuration for the developer’s high-end residential projects.
