Project Overview
This project delivers acoustic treatment for a 9,500 ㎡ large food processing plant in Illinois, USA, covering production workshops, packaging areas, raw material warehouses and equipment rooms. Production equipment, conveyor systems and ventilation facilities generate continuous broadband noise. The noise affects production efficiency and long-term occupational health, and the food production environment requires acoustic materials to meet hygiene standards, be stain-resistant and easy to clean.
Solution Configuration
- Full plant ceiling: High-density inorganic fiberglass acoustic ceiling tiles with an NRC rating of 0.90–0.95 are fully laid. The dense hardened surface resists oil stains and dust buildup, supports regular wipe-down cleaning, is non-particulate and fiber-shedding free, meeting food production hygiene requirements, while efficiently absorbing overall ambient reverberation.
- High-noise equipment zones: Perforated acoustic panels with mineral wool backing are added to assist with mid-low frequency equipment noise control.
All materials meet ASTM E84 Class A fire safety standards and comply with food contact environment requirements. The project was constructed during scheduled production shutdowns, construction period 40 days, zero impact on normal production schedules.
Project Results
Ambient noise in the main production area drops by an estimated 39%, falling within acceptable limits for local occupational health standards. Production efficiency shows measurable improvement, and product defect rates decrease thanks to reduced noise interference and clearer on-site communication.
