Project Background
This 280 sq m independent craft brewery taproom in central Dublin combines a brewhouse view area, bar counter and communal seating zones. The exposed brick walls, high joist ceiling and concrete floors create heavy reverberation during peak hours. Fermentation equipment hum, draft beer systems and crowd chatter overlap sharply, making order communication difficult and reducing customer stay time. The project required natural industrial-style acoustic materials matching the brewery aesthetic, with EU fire and hygiene certifications for food & beverage spaces.
Acoustic Solution
Full-ceiling cement-bonded wood wool acoustic panels from the Wood Wool Ceiling Series are installed across seating and bar zones. The fine, uniform light-grey wood wool texture delivers NRC 0.80–0.90 broadband absorption while blending seamlessly with the industrial brewery interior. The dense cement-bonded finish resists moisture, beer spills and dust, supporting daily cleaning routines. Feature walls and bar back perimeters are clad with 100% recycled polyester fiber boards from the Eco-Friendly Series. E0 grade formaldehyde-free and custom color-matched to deep beer tones, the panels absorb mid-high frequency speech noise and reduce bar area sound buildup. All materials are factory cut to exact project dimensions to minimize on-site waste.
Project Outcomes
- Peak-hour ambient noise dropped by 35%, meeting hospitality acoustic comfort standards
- Reverberation time reduced to 1.0–1.2 seconds
- Average customer dwell time increased by 24%
- All materials meet EN 13501 Class A fire safety standards
