Fiberglass Acoustic Ceiling + Perforated Acoustic Panels | Pharmaceutical Clean Production Workshop, Dublin, Ireland

pharmaceutical clean room acoustics

Project Overview

This acoustic treatment project covers the solid dosage production workshop, packaging clean area and equipment corridor of a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Dublin, Ireland, with a total area of 5,500 ㎡. Automated production lines, ventilation systems and packaging equipment generate continuous broadband noise. Noise interferes with precision production control and long-term worker occupational health. The cleanroom-grade production environment requires acoustic materials that are non-shedding, dust-proof, easy to disinfect and compliant with EU GMP manufacturing standards.

Solution Configuration

  • Full workshop ceiling: High-density inorganic fiberglass acoustic ceiling tiles (NRC 0.90–0.95) are fully laid. The dense hardened surface resists particle accumulation, supports regular disinfection cleaning, does not shed fibers or particulates, meeting ISO 14644 cleanroom standards, while efficiently absorbing full-spectrum reflected noise from equipment and airflow.
  • Equipment zone perimeter walls: Perforated acoustic panels with mineral wool backing are installed along equipment corridors, with smooth easy-to-clean faces, assisting in mid-low frequency equipment noise control and adapting to GMP hygiene management requirements.

All materials meet EN 13501 Class A fire safety standards and EU pharmaceutical manufacturing environmental requirements. Construction was carried out during scheduled production shutdowns, with a total construction period of 48 days.

Project Results

Acceptance testing confirms ambient noise in main production zones drops by 41%, falling within permissible limits for pharmaceutical cleanroom environments. Production line communication clarity improves, and worker occupational noise exposure meets EU health and safety standards. The smooth fiberglass ceiling and perforated wall panels meet GMP hygiene requirements and pass pharmaceutical facility quality acceptance.
