Project Challenge

This high-rise Class A office building features full-height glass curtain walls, gypsum partition walls and polished stone floors. The highly reflective hard surfaces cause severe reverberation and cross-desk sound propagation across the open floor. Employee discussions, video conferences and keyboard clicks spread freely across the workspace, reducing concentration and overall work efficiency. The property management required an eco-friendly acoustic upgrade that complies with green building standards, preserves the existing refined decoration and can be implemented without disrupting daily office operations.

Solution

100% recycled polyester fiber acoustic panels were installed on partition walls, column surfaces and feature walls throughout the open office area. With a stable NRC rating of 0.85–0.95, the porous PET material effectively absorbs mid-to-high frequency speech noise and reduces sound propagation across the open space. The panels are formaldehyde-free with ultra-low VOC emissions, meeting LEED and green building indoor air quality requirements. Custom neutral tones were selected to match the office interior style, and lightweight adhesive installation was carried out in phases to achieve zero downtime for tenants.

Results

Post-renovation measurements showed that overall space reverberation time dropped to the optimal range for open offices, and ambient background noise was significantly reduced. Cross-team sound interference was greatly minimized, and employee work focus and communication efficiency improved noticeably. The acoustic upgrade also contributed credits to the building’s green building certification, enhancing the overall grade and market competitiveness of the office property.
