The updated EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) has been gradually implemented in various member states, putting forward stricter and more detailed requirements for the performance declaration, fire safety and environmental protection indicators of acoustic building materials. For acoustic material suppliers entering the European market, complete third-party test reports and CE marking have changed from bonus items to basic entry thresholds for project bidding.
According to the new regulations, all acoustic products used in public and commercial buildings must provide clear and verifiable performance parameters including sound absorption coefficient (NRC), fire resistance grade and formaldehyde emission level. Products such as cement-bonded wood wool panels, recycled polyester panels and fabric-wrapped acoustic systems need to obtain EN 13501 Class A fire test reports and comply with EU low-VOC indoor air quality standards before they can be used in specified types of buildings. The regulation also puts forward higher requirements for the consistency of product batch performance and the traceability of production links.
Industry insiders said that the implementation of the new regulations will further raise the market access threshold. Suppliers with perfect quality control systems, complete third-party certification documents and stable mass production performance will gain more market share. Small suppliers with uneven product quality and incomplete certification documents will be gradually cleared out of the formal engineering project channel. This round of policy upgrading will promote the overall standardization and high-quality development of the European acoustic building materials market.
