Wood Wool Acoustic Ceiling + Fabric Wrapped Panels | Coastal Resort Hotel Public Area, Bali, Indonesia

resort hotel acoustics

Project Overview

This acoustic upgrade project covers the lobby, all-day dining restaurant, beach lounge and guest corridors of a 5-star coastal resort hotel in Bali, Indonesia, with a total area of 4,800 ㎡. The original high-ceiling open spaces with stone finishes and large glass facades cause noticeable reverberation during peak guest hours. Guest conversation, background music and catering equipment noise overlap, creating a noisy atmosphere inconsistent with the resort’s premium relaxing positioning. The management required natural-texture acoustic solutions matching the tropical resort aesthetic.

Solution Configuration

  • Lobby & restaurant ceilings: Full coverage of cement-bonded wood wool acoustic ceiling panels with an NRC rating of 0.80–0.90. The natural textured fibre-cement finish complements the resort’s tropical natural interior aesthetic, efficiently absorbing scattered reflected sound across high open spaces, with moisture and humidity resistance suitable for coastal environments.
  • Lounge & corridor feature walls: High-density fiberglass core fabric wrapped acoustic panels (NRC 0.85–1.0) are applied, reducing inter-zone sound leakage and creating a calm premium atmosphere. Custom warm fabric tones match the resort’s interior design scheme.

All products carry ASTM E84 Class A fire certification and meet low VOC emission standards. The project was constructed in phases during low-occupancy seasons, total construction period 40 days, no disruption to guest services.

Project Results

Post-completion testing shows peak-hour ambient noise in the main lobby drops by 37%, and reverberation time reaches the recommended standard for luxury hospitality spaces. Guest satisfaction scores for quietness and relaxation increase by 34%, and the acoustic materials integrate invisibly with the resort’s natural tropical aesthetic.
