Project Challenge
This boutique café and bakery adopts a high-ceiling industrial design with hard concrete walls and tile flooring. During peak hours, customer chatter, tableware clinking and background music overlap heavily, creating a noisy, restless atmosphere. Excessive reverberation shortens customer dwell time and weakens the warm, relaxing brand vibe. The owner required acoustic treatment that preserves the raw textured aesthetic rather than adding flat, generic decorative layers.
Solution
Cement-bonded wood wool acoustic panels were applied across the full ceiling and partial feature walls. The natural spruce fiber-cement texture delivers a rugged, organic matte finish with no additional paint or cladding needed, perfectly matching the venue’s industrial-warm style. With an NRC of 0.80–0.90, the open fiber structure absorbs scattered crowd noise and balances indoor sound field. The panels carry Class A fire resistance and excellent moisture stability, suitable for high-humidity bakery environments.
Results
After the upgrade, ambient noise during peak service dropped noticeably. Guests can converse comfortably at normal volume, and average customer stay time increased by 29%. The raw textured ceiling has become a signature visual highlight of the venue, enhancing social media shareability while improving acoustic comfort. The project successfully integrates sound absorption, decoration and fire safety in one solution.
